Classics Unwrapped

Classics Unwrapped celebrates the career of Kenneth McKellar - concentrating particularly on his now mostly-overlooked recordings of classical song and opera. When Radio 3's Stage and Screen did a feature on a host of great tenors who had recorded Bernstein's West Side Story - including Carreras, Pavarotti and di Stefano - McKellar's performance came out top. He was also a magnificent Handel singer, recording with Joan Sutherland and many other stars. Now 82, we have archive interview from a few years back when Jamie did talk to him about his Burns songs. We will also be hearing from some key Scottish musicians who pay tribute to his legacy including Donald Maxwell, Isobel Buchanan (who studied with him), Kirsteen McCue and Walter Blair who MD'd his last few albums. They'll also pick and introduce some favourite recordings.

And Davie Scott dissects Bernard Hermann's 1960 score for Alfred Hitchcock's Pycho.

We'll be talking to The Rolling Stone's biographer Richard Havers and legendary record producer Tony Visconti, who worked in the 60s with Joe Cocker, David Bowie and T-Rex.

Plus, some behind the scene glimpses of this year's T In The Park and a quick chat with John Taylor from Duran Duran, who, according to Jim, was the dishy one!
