![]() Listen to The Sun's Comin' Over The Hill That award wasn't the only one Karine won. She also stepped up to receive the Best Album gong and the Horizon Award. It was definitely Karine's night. Her debut album Faultlines has already garnered praise for its mix of traditional English folk that strays into blues and rock along the way. Vocally she has been compared with Eddie Reader and Emmylou Harris. You could name check Joni Mitchell in there too. But Karine has been honing her own songs since she picked up a guitar at 13 years old. Now 20 years later she looks set to not only set the Folk world alight but also cross over to a wider audience. Her solo album comes after a long time as a respected member of the Scottish Folk scene. Now living in the Scottish Borders, she has been voted Best Scots singer at the 2003 BBC Scots Trad Music Awards and was a member of the folk groups Malinky and Battlefield Band. |
