Sally Hawkins on her new film Made in Dagenham

Help

Sally Hawkins' new film, Made in Dagenham, follows real life events from 1968 when almost 200 women at a Ford factory went on strike demanding the same financial rewards as male skilled workers.

The consequences of their actions paved the way for the Equal Pay Act of 1970.

Hawkins, who plays one of the workers, says she met some of the real-life characters to help her play the role of Rita O'Grady.
