The well is situated on the Wells Common just off the main road between Malvern and Ledbury.

The common is still used to graze sheep.

The road over the common still has its original lamps posts from the era when they were lit by gas.

Malvern Hills District Council put a warning on all the wells saying that the water should be boiled before drinking.
