  • A railway tunnel 1567 yards long runs under the hills near this point
  • There is another abandoned railway tunnel running alongside the current one which is the home to a colony of rare horseshoe bats
  • Looking east from this point the next highest hills are the Urals in Russia
  • The pre-Cambrian rock that forms the hills is some of the oldest in Britain.
