The Friday Session Yuletide Ten

Yes, it's that time of year again! We've ate all the chocolates and Christmas turkey, polished off the sherry, now it's time for some serious business. The best local music tracks of 2007.

The Friday Session Introducing...

As chosen by our regular reviewer Andy O'Hare:

Denyer

1. Denyer - 'American Girl'

Featuring the Adams of Dandelion Killers and Original Bondage on drums and guitar. Simon Denyer is originally from Lea, near Ross, but now lives in London. This breezy heartwarming number leapt out at me from a compilation CD of the best of current Hereford talent - very much a transatlantic touch to the lyrics!

Girls On Film

2. Girls On Film - 'Break'

Strange that the And What Will Be Left Of Them? spin-off duo didn't play this great little number on their live session. It might have filled a bit of the 'dead air'!

Jamie of the Flat Pack Heroes

3. Flat Pack Heroes - 'Thursday Afternoon'

Sparkling lyrics about a bunch of mates on a night out, which is what the Hereford punksters feel like anyway on stage!

The Capital's singer

4. The Capital - 'Alive'

Also semi-finalists at the Marr's Bar Battle Of The Band, the Worcester threesome would've had my vote all the way!

Brandon Steep

5. Brandon Steep - 'Hiding In The Undergrowth'

One of the outstanding tracks off the feel-good 'Woodland Regiment' EP from the harmonic Herefordians!

Gamble Gamble

6. Gamble Gamble - 'I Want To Be An Immigrant'

An impressive bit of metal from the outfit who hail from all over the two counties.

7. Dandelion Killers - 'Chapters'

So difficult to pick just one number from the impressive catalogue of the Ross threesome.

Blackout

8. Blackout - 'Broken'

It's been a bit of a prog rock revival, this year, with the likes of Animotorso and Da Vinci contesting the Marr's Bar Battle Of The Bands final. Here's one of the semi-finalists, who've been making waves on the Birmingham scene!

Pencil Toes' lead singer

9. Pencil Toes - 'The Setting'

Last minute replacement for 'Moving Walls' by special request of front girl Elle. This Hereford outfit have taken off this year with airings on BBC Radio One and BBC Radio Two, also an arresting live set on the Friday Session Introducing...!

The Lies In Me

10. The Lies In Me - 'I Need You'

An explosive opening number from the Redditch Battle Of The Bands winners. Hear their Friday Session in February.
