The Friday Session Yuletide Ten

It's that time of year again, so here's the top tunes from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire in 2006... In our opinion!

But, we also want to know what you think - so leave your comments at the bottom of this page!

Andrew's Herefordshire Top Five

Every week, Andrew selects the Herefordshire music for the Friday Session.

Here's the tunes that have rocked his world in 2006:

  1. Shakedown - Spinning
  2. Pork Dukes - Lottery
  3. Dubmerge meets Molara - Rocket Top
  4. AMP - Welcome To New York
  5. Harrie - Hypnotised

Dan's Worcestershire Top Five

Dan selects the Worcestershire tracks to be played on the programme.

Here's five tracks, who Dan thinks are the cream of the crop:

  1. Nigel Clarke - 21st Century Man
  2. Hey Pablo - Police Car
  3. Cape Of Good Hope - Peep Shows And Discos
  4. Quantic - Politick Society
  5. Sam Isaac - Compass Scattered Love
Andy O'Hare

Andy O'Hare

Andy is the Friday Session music guru, having spent more time at gigs in 2006 than most people have spent in bed.

Here's his top ten from 2006:

1. Suburbia Falls by Dandelion Killers

"A top song from the act of the year, with the best closing guitar lick you'll ever hear."

2. L'Amour Violent by And What Will Be Left Of Them?

"Lucy and the boys 'bringing clatterpop to the kids since 2006'."

3. Newton Farm by Tastyhead

"With the usual edginess of one of the best live acts around."

4. Setting Sun by The Labels

"Anthemic stuff from the punksters, who are now moving to pastures new."

5. Semi Lobon by Knapkin

"Incredible guitar work from the Pershore battle-winners."

6. Make Love To Me Chancellor by The Hoax

"Quirky chuckler from the Clifton-ites, easily the most-improved outfit of the year."

7. Toast by Ladybird

"A classic metal riff from the Hereford trio."

8. The Girl Has Gone by Six Deep Holiday

"Shades of 'Summer Of 69' to this whoopalong number."

9. Rock-It Dog Stomp by Rock-It Dogs

"Best set of the year at the Punk For Pudsey."

Stack of CDs

10. Song For Thursday by Bitchpups

"My favourite from the honorary Herefordians."

Toxic Pete

Pete, who won't reveal where the 'toxic' came from, has been running a music review website in Worcester for around ten years.

Here's his favourite five, in no particular order:

  1. Dan Days - Roses
  2. Meg - Kelly, You're The Teacher
  3. The Red Bean Team - Little Lie
  4. Sarah Warren Band - The Weakness in Me
  5. Knight Othen & Smith - Stay Right
BBC Hereford and Worcester Studio

Tallie's Top Tune

Every week Tallie puts together the gig guide, looks after the live band, logs the music, edits the interiews... In fact, there's not much that Tallie can't do.

Here's her favourite:

  1. Sketchbeat - Funny Old World

Jon's Top Tune

Jon is a man who you won't often hear on the airwaves - but his work, you will do - big time.

Every time a drummer breaks a drumstick, a guitarist snaps a string, or a singer loses their voice, Jon's the man behind the glass who will make things 'alright on the night'.

Here's his festive favourite:

  1. Dandelion Killers - John Wayne

You can listen to all of the latest music from across the two counties on the Friday Session, every week from 7pm on BBC Hereford & Worcester. You can also listen on demand at a time that suits you by clicking on the listen live/listen again button.
