Sam Isaac was born in Malvern during the mid-80s and quickly fell in love with music.

After writing his first few songs on his guitar, Sam decided to pack his bags and head off to the big smoke with heartbreaking tales of love, family and vulnerability that portray his tender years.

In 2006, he was discovered by Back2Forward Records who commissioned his debut release, the 'Compass Scattered Love EP'.

Sam says his influences include the 'melodies of Ed Harcourt, the soul of Elliot Smith and the fragility of Bright Eyes'.

After releasing his first EP, Sam spent two weeks on a UK tour - not visiting live music clubs, but fans' living rooms instead!

He says it was a risky idea, but everybody made him feel very welcome along the way - and he plans to do the same again in the future!

But then...

In 2007, Sam was put forward to go national by The Friday Session Introducing..., BBC Hereford & Worcester's local music programme.

He was then chosen from hundreds of acts to play at the Glastonbury Festival.

Since then he's played more than 150 gigs.

"It's really important to play shows and to meet people in real life - people should like your music because they saw you playing five feet away from them."

Glastonbury

Various BBC Introducing programmes up and down the country were asked to put forward four of their best local artists for the chance to play at this year's festival.

BBC Hereford & Worcester's Friday Session chose Sam for his fresh new sound, and the judging panel quickly snapped him up for the Glastonbury experience.

Electric Proms

Following his successful Glastonbury debut, Sam was chosen alongside four other artists to play at the BBC Electric Proms in 2007.

This event took place at Dingwalls in London, supporting Edwyn Collins, before visiting all the musicians' hometowns in a tour bus!

Sam has since gone on to play at BBC Maida Vale and his music is regularly played right the way across the BBC.
