MusiciansYou are in: Hereford and Worcester > Entertainment > Friday Session > Musicians > The Myth ![]() The MythThe Myth are an acid jazz funky outfit from the Golden Valley in Herefordshire.
The Myth describe their music as: "Retro but original funk rock - underlaid with jazz, blues and soul". They regularly featured guest musicians, including a saxophonist.
Help playing audio/video Toby writes most of the lyrics while the melody lines are usually composed by one or other of the boys, with everyone pitching in with their own ideas at practice sessions. The band members attended the various colleges in Hereford - Sixth Form, Art College, and Tech. The Myth formed after the millennium when they attended Fairfield High School, Peterchurch. Jon, the keyboard player, however attended Aylestone School. Right from the start, they played only their own material. They began gigging at local venues and many public and private gigs followed - in November 2004 they played the Courtyard Theatre. Their 32-minute demo CD was recorded in December 2004 at Hereford's National College for the Blind. It was completed as-live with very few overdubs and little mixing involved. The highlight is perhaps a one-take extended 13-minute jam of one of their most popular gig numbers, Role Model. The band came second in the BBC's School of Rock competition in 2005 to find the greatest new band in the Midlands. You can listen to all the latest music from across the two counties on the Friday Session Introducing... every week from 7pm, on BBC Hereford & Worcester.last updated: 16/01/2009 at 23:10 Have Your SayHave you been to see The Myth?
