This week’s Future Friction are a collective from Preston who fuse Dubstep, Garage, Bollywood, Hip Hop and Ragga called Northern Literature.  They include Manzy P, Baratone, DKutta, Topaz, MR C.  Their productions range from Hip-Hop, Ragga, R&B, Bollywood, Garage to Dubstep.  Influences include Notorious B.I.G, DJ Brockie, EZ, Kenny Ken, Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix and Oasis.  Manzy P’s working on instrumentals for a mixtape and is also looking to collaborate with other artists.

Chan 1 is a DJ and producer from London. He experiments with sounds such as Drum & Bass, Electro and combine them with future sounds of Asian Influences. He started mixing Bhangra with more hardcore music in his basement when he was just 15 years old and has built himself a reputation in left-field music. He was studio manager for Masterstepz for four years and his influences include Shy FX, T Power, Alabama 3, Anjunabeats, SparFunk and Sudden Def. His love for audio engineering, producing and mixing led him to explore a more cultural side of music, which in turn, meant the incorporation of Asian instruments in his projects.

Future Friction: Panjabi Mafia

Panjabi Mafia are a collective of rappers, producers and singers. The main player is DJ Bilks who produces the music. DJ Bilks started Dj-ing a decade ago and naturally progressed to remixing and producing tracks. He has recently been signed to the new bhangra label 'Ladoo records' and is working towards an album, which will see him showcasing new up and coming artists.
