Sight Training
Remember Brain Training on the Nintendo DS? well this is the same thing, but for your eyes. The software was actually developed in conjunction with the English national rugby team and it really works. If you want to improve your hand eye co-ordination and check your 20/20 vision then this is for you. It’s filled with exercises that become strangely addictive especially when it says you have an eye age of 85!!! Get it down to 25 and your working.

Lost
The fourth series is on TV and now Lost has made it in to the games console arena. The telly series is confusing to say the least and the game is no different. It starts with the plane crash and you have to wander through the jungle looking for clues. When found, these clues trigger flashbacks which hold the secret to completing the game……and that’s about it. If the game contains anymore than that it will require an extremley patient person to unlock it. That person aint me.

Dark Messiah Of Might and Magic Elements
This is a hack and slash action RPG that looks amazing. Its very easy to pick up and start playing but soon gets into a very familiar groove of slash, jump, kill then on to the next enemy. You can choose between being a swordsman, archer, assassin or sorcerer but the action after a couple of levels gets very repetitive.
There is fun to be had playing this game especially with the usage of your enviroment but I would suggest only hardcore RPG fans go for this one.

Turok
Turok is a first person shooter. Firstly I'd like to commend the developers on a great story…..then cuss because it wasn't long enough. Graphics are what I expected, HD all the way. Like I said before, the story is original but too short. Buy this for on-line, it's shorter than Gears of War. Easy to pick up and play. You play Joseph Turok who IS a BAD MAN, Black ops all day long (his crew could change its name "Whiskey Company" not original)

The Club
The Club is a 3rd person shooter with a difference. It’s similar to Gears of War but not as slick. Forget story mode….doesn't exist, forget big movie scores….none needed and forget loooooooooooong levels…..you won't last long anyway. Be part of The Club, fast pace, fast action, big weapons with time trials and hunt or be hunted, four player split screen or on-line multiplayer which ever floats your boat. Bags of fun that NEVER ends. Improve your scores and gloat at your mates…..shooter with a difference. Big man game O/16.

Burnout Paradise
Burnout Paradise is available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The fifth instalment in the franchise which continues the on road mayhem where you have to win races by any means and that includes crashing and bashing into your opponents. More points are awarded the more spectacular the crashes are!!
If you have played any Burnout titles before then you know exactly what to expect. I would recommend this if you love Burnout or don’t own a previous edition of the game. Great graphics and audio, but nothing new.

Ghost Squad
GHOST SQUAD…….Time Crisis 08 is the best way to describe this game. Point your pad at the TV and start shooting. 16 levels and trust me they get hard. 4 players mean all your mates can get involved and make sure your 0/16!!!!

Mass Effect
Action role playing next generation style….The game is heavy, graphics, sound and story. Customise your character to look like you and let the games begin. The game gets deep as you try to save the galaxy. With your trusted team do battle for days. No on-line game play, but the story is so strongyou don't need it. A must for the collection..

NBA 08
I'm not a great fan of basketball but I have to admit this game made me stop for a minute. What else could you do to an already great game? The graphics are great and the players/game play actually feel real. A slam dunk head to head competition with your mates will be heavy. Gone is the floating movement of players and impossible shots that go in. Prepare for some grafting.

Soldiers Of Fortune
The 3rd instalment in the series of 1st person shoot 'em ups. Previous editions of this game were very popular but in today's highly competitive climate S.O.F tries to compete but fails in comparison to Halo 3 and Call of Duty. As a next gen title graphically this game is up there but for realism in gameplay other titles are far better. Only recommended for hard core F.P.S fans and even they might not be satisfied.

Need For Speed - Pro Street
Need For Speed Pro Street has landed with a bit of a puncture. The graphics are a let down for a next generation title as is the game play. The only thing going for NFS Pro Street is the sound and customisation of the cars. If you’re a fan of this franchise I think you'll be disappointed.

Super Mario Galaxy
Excellent game for the family for Xmas. Roam around the Galaxy and fight loads of baddies and save the Princess….sound familiar. The usual story rehashed in a wicked man style and pattern. You will love this game and play it for ages. Never gets boring and missions are challenging. I was struggling to find a bad review anywhere. If there was ever a game you need in your stocking this Xmas its this one. Super Mario Galaxy.

Mario & Sonic At The Olympics
A great family game that covers every sport possible from the Olympics. Running, swimming, archery, clay pigeon shooting, table tennis you get the idea everything. Not the most graphically gifted game and the audio is just O.K but the gameplay is brilliant and great fun, this and a Wii for Xmas and the kids are quiet until New Year.

Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 3 marks the return of the world’s premiere first-person shooter to the PC, and its debut on Play Station 3. Unreal Tournament 3 unleashes the full power of Unreal Engine who were responsible for Gears Of War, taking graphics, gameplay, and challenge to a whole new level. Players engage in intense battles with other human players online, or against Unreal A.I. (artificial intelligence) Use the story mode for practice, to learn the vehicles, weapons and maps then apply your skills on-line.

Assassin's Creed
This game has a great story behind it. It's all about a 12th Century assassin - unfortunately the story is exposed within the first 5 minutes, which is a bit disappointing.
But it has fantastic graphics and great interaction play. Only 1 player and no online function which is very disappointing seeing that we've been waiting for this game for soooooooo long.
It’s a good game but could be a great game if you could deviate and free roam more. The missions become too repetitive and less challenging but you will want to complete it. Bring out part 2 quick!

Call Of Duty 4
Yet another first person shooter for your next Gen console. A lot of stiff competition but this one seems to have risen above the masses. Based on facts provided by real life SAS officers, the realism in this is shocking! Definitely a BIG Christmas stocking.

The Simpsons Game
A fantastic adaptation of the T.V show. It looks exactly like the cartoon and sounds the same as well. The aim of the game is to save the Simpsons from video game hell! You can control Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa and each of them have their own set of unique abilities. You'll laugh your way through the game as you combat enemies and solve puzzles. Homer is able to belch his way through groups of baddies or turn into a rolling ball to destroy things!

Bioshock
This first person shoot-em up takes place under the sea. You have special powers such as electricity and fire, and you even have the power to make other people fight each other. The game is a bit twisted, with scary figures in old skool diving suits and spirits in the form of young girls with no eyes! I've been having nightmares! Gameplay is good, graphics are spotless - all of the levels are beautiful. Music I'd give full marks as they've been really creative with it. This game is great value for money, but it's not for everyone!

Ninja Gaiden Sigma
(PS3)
Reviewed by 1Xtra's DJ Q
You play a ninja, floating around a little Japanese town, fighting henchman and trying to save the girl - pretty typical! You can pick up powerups along the way which give you life, so if you die, you don't have to start the level again. The disappointing thing about the game is at times it glitches. It reminds me of when I used to play it on the Xbox 1 a few years ago, except it's got added extras - new weapons and new enemy characters. This is one of the best games available on the PS3.

Surf's Up
(PS2)
Reviewed by 1Xtra's Vis:
My favourite part is to ride the wave and jump over the different ice obstacles, although this does get a little tedious after a while. The graphics are awesome, the scenery is good, it has a variation of levels - you can surf off different islands around the world. The only long thing is actually setting the game up, chosing your level and picking your characters (which includes the penguin and chicken), plus the music is dead!! Overall, I would recommend this to sports fans.

Rugby 08

Had fun with this game as I'm not a rugby fan and it taught me a lot about this sport. There is a training bit at the beginning which shows you the throws and runs and I now know what a 'tri' and a 'punt' are! However, when I came to play the game it was disappointing and the gameplay got boring pretty quickly. It isn't much different from Rugby 06, apart from a few new players and different team strips. I wouldn't recommend it.

***Football Special***
Target on Pro Evo:
I love this game. You can play 4-player with your mates and the gameplay is really realistic. Graphics are super smooth and it's great value for money. You have to have this in your games collection - you'll be playing it for months on end!

Iyare on Fifa:
Fifa is instant, you can just pick it up and play it immediately, there's no messing about with players. Gameplay is not as good as Pro Evo, but graphics are flawless, and the music is without doubt the best you'll find for football games.

G Money on Championship Manager:
It's all about running a football club - that involves buying/selling/transferring players, discipline issues, and dealing with the media. You can create your own tactics, so everything you've been shouting at the television screen during Match Of The Day you can now do! Music and graphics are not relevant, the gameplay is wicked and it's all about strategy - it's the chess game of football games!

Reviewed by 1Xtra's Dev
You play a baddie in this game which makes a nice change! Controls are easy to grasp, and you have minions which you have to tell what to do. The voiceovers made me laugh, graphics are smooth, but I would expect them to be even better for a Xbox 360 game. It feels like a 'kiddie' game, although it's designed for over 16's. I don't see much longevity with it, I can see it getting quite boring quite quickly.

Wicked off road driving game. Looks quite similar to Motorstorm on the PS3, but much more realistic. When you crash your car, that's it, you're out the game!! Loads of different race modes - cross over, hill climb. You can customise your car with your favourite colour and design, plus you get a running commentary throughout the game, giving you instructions. Great value for money, will keep you amused for months!

Rampage vs Dev & Twin (Weak-end Team)
Rampage start strong, but Dev & Twin are confident they can reclaim champion status! Mike manages 3 strikes, Dev has a bit of a problem with 'angles', but Twin puts them back on track with a strike via his 'tennis ball technique'. Does Treble T have an advantage because he's playing as a girl? Dev & Twin continue to tipple over a few pins, but the men are set apart from the boys as they bulldoze their way through the rest of the game - Rampage are the clear winners as they take the two top places. This game is not what you expect - it's actually really quirky and quite humorous. It's a first person shoot-em up but there's more to it that just wiping everyone out. There's lots of random events like having to watch a film or listening to people shouting down a telephone! Controls were pretty twitchy. Multiplayer gives it longevity. Graphics are smooth and flawless.

This is a war game based on WW2. You can choose from 3 characters who all have different strengths. There are loads of levels which keep you really interested and you have to find targets on each level so you know exactly what you need to do. The game is quite difficult but this just makes it more of a challenge and more enjoyable. My favourite part was shooting planes out of the sky, it really got the adrenaline going. If you like war games, you'll definately enjoy this.

My first impression of the game was that it looked really exciting. The graphics are absolutely wicked and I like the way you can swap your character during gameplay as you need different skills from each character to get through the different levels. However, there was no real storyline and all the levels look the same. If you die you come back to life automatically which doesn't make sense and I really didn't get the point of the game. Definitely designed for 13 or 14 year olds.
